man whose regime is responsible for the wholesale murder
of thousands, if not millions of Indonesians (his
"government" killed an estimated 100,000 Balinese
in one year alone, during 1965 to 1966) is
currently ranked as the 6th richest man in the world,
with an estimated personal wealth of $16,000,000,000.
His party created the corrupt, mafia style, feared
Indonesian police (see our report on the Bali
Police - they are still doing the Suharto regime's
memory proud). His family enjoy lives of luxury around
the world courtesy of blood money, including from investments
made with that money, and from the theft of land under
compulsory purchase programs. Although often disguised
through "front" trading companies in Jakarta,
you will probably be amazed how much of Bali they still
own or control.
What may really make your blood boil and want to avoid
giving them any money now is the fact that the Suharto
family got much / most of their wealth from extorting
money given to the Indonesian people by the IMF (International
Monetary Fund). Of course most realize that
the IMF get their money from foreign donor countries
(such as the USA, European Countries, Australia, New
Zealand, etc.). And in turn the governments of these
donor countries get the money they gave to the IMF from
you, in the form of taxes. So, the Suharto's
took money from your / your family's own pockets
to build their business empire and personal wealth.
How do you feel about that?
Would you stay in one of Suharto's hotels?
I bet you will be shocked as to which ones
they own, owned or have an interest / control in.
Would you use the services / products of any
of Suharto's businesses?
You will probably be amazed at what they own
/ control and who does business with them!
We believe the public have a right to know which hotels
and businesses belong / belonged to or are / were under
the control of the Suharto family. Even if a hotel is
now truly independent of the Suharto empire / family,
they would have had to pay them. Did they also pay compensation
to the land owners who lost their land or worse, the
Balinese that died at the hands of the Suharto regime?
Can any company justify doing business with the Suharto's
in the first place? Can you justify putting money in
the pockets of the Suharto family and / or people that
bought their hotels from / do business with them?
